The Trees Had To Go

I mentioned my sadly neglected video channels and the tree I would video rather than staring into my phone. The hope was that birds and squirrels would liven things up. They never did, but hope springs eternal and all that. The tree was large and old and had a lot of activity when I wasn't recording. Thanks, birds and squirrels. This tree rose well above the house and the husband and I occasionally worried that a branch would fall on the house during a storm but it held up.

The other tree in question was originally half of a double trunk tree. The other half fell during a storm, leaving its brother alone, and so it went for well over a decade.

This past year has been pretty hectic, what with my cancer diagnosis and the treatments, and then my husband had a triple bypass, and we just didn't get out in the back yard for a while. When the husband finally went out, he saw that the tree that had once been a double had fallen onto the big tree, which was leaning over the house. I called the local tree service and got an estimate. Both trees had to come down.

And so they did. I have to say that our local tree service did a good job. They had the trees down and the yard and street cleaned up like nothing ever happened. The yard looks naked now, and there's a lot more sun coming through the back windows. And, I have nothing to video while I ramble. But, there's now nothing literally hanging over the house. I will miss the star of those videos.
